When it comes to combustion control, the air and fuel inputs must be regulated in order to produce the proper combustion. The appropriate air/fuel ratio differs according to the equipment that’s in operation, so maintaining the right ratio differs from application to application. A well-maintained combustion system can lead to a safer, more reliable and efficient facility.

Off-ratio air/fuel mixtures can lead to dangerous situations, such as producing unstable flames, for example. Blowouts can occur if the velocity of the mixture exceeds the flame front velocity. On the other hand, flash back can occur if the velocity of the mixture is less than the flame front velocity. Both situations should be avoided due in part to their negative results which could damage structures or degrade fuel nozzles.
